 Wild Roses
I saw wild roses growing at work today,
Nature reaches out to my heart with this gift.
Springing forth from the dirt on the tank farm,
Colorful red roses; small, rugged, and fragrant.
I began to gaze at this natural wonder,
My mind was wondering on the why and how.
Whisked away to more surreal thoughts quickly,
I thought about the wild roses scattered uniquely.
Bringing a dash of beauty to this stark industrial wasteland,
Touching my heart, reaching out from the drabness.
Then I think about the beauty of wild roses in human form,
Bringing a smile to my face in unusual circumstances.
Powerful in their impact, bringing me joy and freshness,
I am thankful for the gift of wild roses of my life.
