and the beat goes........
Clear! Paddles cold upon my chest
Fade we do and zapped regress
To life for now, some take a breath
Including me flirting with death
Stable it seems at least for now
In thoughts this time does me allow
To think through upon this table
Laying on back just barely stable
I hear voices and try to look
Someone I know who also shook
This body mine, crying don't go
I can't answer to let them know
It's not by choice my heart and me
Have reached the point of destiny
Weak our pulse and pale our face
This moment now we both will trace
Trace our life, our yesterdays
Seems we both would like to stay
A little longer if for awhile
We'd change some things and our life style
The cigarettes we smoked for years
We'd stop smoking and would adhere
To exercise the doctor said
To eat healthy, get out of bed
To live each day as if it were
Your final day and spend with her
Who stood by you at your bedside
While deep asleep, broken she cried
You gasp, awake for now calling her name
Ignore the hurt and awful pain
That brought you to this final place
To say goodbye, touching her face
and the beat goes,
