Alone in the woods
So many things to take notice of
A frog sitting still on a leaf
Trees standing
Straight and tall
Branches like shoulders
Pushed up and pulled back
Aged steadfast trunks
Deeply rooted rounded
Trees guarding protecting
Tree bark like art
Creative etchings
No designs alike
Lush green grass
Shoots and sprouts up
Calling me to lie down
The fragrance of woods
Twigs fallen on ground
Crushed like cinnamon sticks
Fresh outdoor scent of woods
Air clear
Can't see it
Yet it's there
Grew up surrounded
by woods
Longed to escape
Where did the years fly
It's something
About the woods
Although I'm alone in the woods
It feels like home
If you walk into a forest -- you hear all kinds of subtle sounds -- but underneath there is an all pervasive silence.
- Eckhart Tolle -
I'm always astonished by a forest. It makes me realize that the fantasy of nature is much larger than my own fantasy. I still have things to learn.
- Gunter Grass -
I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.
- Maya Angelou -
Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.
- Gary Snyder -
Home is a spirit, it is not just a place.
- Thomas Moore -
Some trees are compasses, and some are flags. If a flag tells you where you are, a compass can potentially tell you how to get there or how to find someplace else.
