 Little Ones

I remember the song from church when I was a child,
In my heart sings the chorus of ‘Jesus Loves Me.'
After Thanksgiving surrounded by the fantastic five,
Autumn, Garrett, Bella, D.J., and McKinna.
A joy sweeps across the family get together
When these children laugh and play together.
I hear the words ‘Little one's to Him belong,
They are weak, but He is strong.'
I pause to reflect on this meaning…
God's love pouring out to the innocent ones.
Full of mankind's failings and weaknesses,
Jesus sees their hearts of gold.
Unable to stand under the scrutiny of a just God,
Embraced by Jesus these innocents are protected.
Love flows from the Godhead to the children,
The little ones will not be snatched from His hand.
I sat and thought watching the children play,
They scream, fight, push, laugh, love, and sing.
Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination,
But loved by the Most High and Holy God.
Who are we who judge our brothers?
Who are we that pronounce sentence on a child of God?
Fools, that's who, as the Bible tells us to love our neighbor.
The lessons taught by Jesus' little ones,
Reaching into a hard heart and giving it life.
I am thankful for the reminder of Jesus' love,
As seen in the eyes of the little ones.
