 Where the Eagles Live

The wilderness calls to my wilder side
As my life is driven into the high mountains.
This primal urge takes me to where the eagles live,
The high rocky cliffs,
Looking down on the expanse of the wild before my eyes.
Untouched by the human's hand;
Still pristine, with air so clear that you can see for miles and miles.
Full of natures bounty of the animal kingdom,
This place of peace on high.
The winds blowing across my face brings refreshment.
Where the eagles live;
Smaller and smaller each year this domain becomes.
Mankind creeps in on this untouched forest,
As his needs are more important that this world of natural beauty.
This world of tranquility high in the mountains,
The brook running with fresh crystal clear water,
Trout jumping after a fly,
Elk looking up at me without fear.
I am living in this place of beauty praising the God of creation,
Where the eagles live.
Acid rains are coming deeper into this land,
Hunters and outdoorsman come to kill for their pleasure.
The peace of this land is getting more precarious.
Why are they called man kind?
I search for the kindness, the conservation, the preservation;
This place untouched needs our love,
This place where the pollution of man hasn't yet touched,
This place where nature remains wild,
This place called God's country,
This place…
Where the eagles live.
