 Soul's Awakening   w/july03

Fifty some years ago, I didn't know you and you didn't know me.
I was six years old digging in the dirt, you were five playing in a tree.
A moment  suspended in time, across the plane of time and space.
As a child, I gave us no thought, as I sat with chocolate on my face.
My mind was on other things, like running, skipping and playing.
Yet somewhere down deep inside I could hear my soul softly saying,
Out there, somewhere, is my missing piece. I keep my eyes peeled.
Not knowing, it would be years before the answer would be revealed.

I carried on as children do, not realizing, the missing piece was you.
Sitting in the dirt playing, I look to the southern horizon seeking a clue.
Quietly, my soul tingles for a moment, then silence... I return to the dirt.
I had these moments often, they were feelings that no one could divert.
As a child I didn't know what they meant, or even why they persisted.
Not knowing why, not understanding the reasons; knowing you existed
Like Santa, or God, my childlike faith made you real; I decided to wait.
I guess it was meant to be, maybe we were destined, some call it fate.
