Memories of days gone past
Come to mind without being asked
In the recesses of your mind
Old things come out for you to find
Whether it is amusing, good or bad
We all think sometimes of what we had
Some things you wish to keep
Others are best if put to sleep
Some are as real as they were then
Some are wishes you try to defend
Others are totally off the wall
Best left behind and remembered not at all
Whether it is a person, place or thing
Old things take flight as if on wing
Flights of fancy light up our lives
Dark things remembered, lucky to survive
All things considered, we are today
The sum of all that was in disarray
Through the days and years of times past
Most of which went by too fast
Memories are our window to our soul
We have to look inward to become whole
My wish is that your memories are better each year
So you can live life without any fear
