Danger on the high seasThe seas were calm the moon rose high, Stars glistened against a velvet sky, An angel's breath of a tropical breeze, Drifts lazily past over tranquil seas , The engines, with their muffled roar, Like crashing waves on a distant shore, Keep a rhythm of a monotonous tone, Sailing to a musical metronome. A blip appears on the radar screen, An approaching vessel has just been seen, The captain informed by his attentive crew, Await instructions on what to do, The skipper adopts his official mode, Says flash a message, use morse code, Inform them of our importance here, To alter their course and steer clear. Tell them we are a great ship of note, Not your average insignificant boat, Our journey vital, of national need, To convey our cargo at greatest speed, Alter your course, do what we say, Do your duty and please give way, The message seen in dots and dashes, In a series of electric flashes. A message sent, a message replied, Their pressing request, politely denied, Their marine position he continues to hold, Refusing the directive told, The ship's captain now in a bind, This impasse a solution he must find, He takes control, his authority fills, The time has come for his assertive skills. We demand you steer an alternate course, Our passage we intend to force, Move aside, we demand, An imminent collision could be close at hand, Who are you? who am I talking to?, Refuting my authority over you, The answer came he had his say- "A lighthouse keeper now move away".
