Ken's Dream

A crowd ambled along nature's path
hoarding ripe and luscious berries!
Sun rays no longer silhouetted trout
swimming, in a carefree way,
nor chipmunks chattering while at play!
I responded, "Your baskets are full, destruction is your path,
animals will starve.  Look! Their surroundings have collapsed!"
With mocking laughter, the crowd, tho' subdued,
"Don't be silly, you fool!"
Alone I strolled and met a bear with a condemning look!
Front claws dug deep into the dirt,
Challenging-leaving me no time to flee or avert.
My heart pounded in fear, whispering in each beat,
"It wasn't me!" We wrestled into the water,
Bear weakening in the current-free?
My hopes rose, "I will survive!" Then, the river dried.
I awoke in horror, "Alas another day to try," I sighed.
