 Living an Abundant Life

Even Christians can still lose sight
Of the peace and joy they once knew
By straying away from what is right
Or allowing trials to affect them too

But whatever situations we daily face
The choice is ours how we will react
In realizing our life is a continued race
We can keep focused to remain on track

A turning point often comes when we see
By doing things our own way, we will fail
It may take several lessons for you and me
Before we rely on the Holy Spirit to prevail

By understanding the freedom of His grace
We see that the law could not save us within
While the law revealed sin in the first place
Only the blood of Jesus washes away our sin

Christ has been raised and cannot die again
So we are raised to live a new abundant life
Our old sin nature is gone, victory we gain
Freed from the power over sin and strife

No longer slaves to sin but to righteousness
Committed to God to be holy and obedient
Far better than a life enslaved to wickedness
Leading to death as its form of punishment

Romans 6:6-7 (NIV)
For we know that our old self was crucified with him
so that the body of sin might be done away with, that
we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone
who has died has been freed from sin.
