being lonely is going to the movies alone,
all the while avoiding lovers as they KISS
after the show, that same couple is holding hands,
constantly reminding lonely people of what they MISS
being lonely is staying up all night long
just listening to raindrops FALL
it's difficult to channel surf with cellphone in hand,
knowing that no one is going to CALL!
being lonely is leaving for work two hours early
and it's just a fifteen minute DRIVE
sometimes lonely people cry themselves to sleep
well, at least their feelings are still ALIVE
being lonely is having a great memory,
always remembering that last LOVE
but what's the point in praying for another
broken hearts don't come from up ABOVE
