 Primal Scream

Reaching back into the pit of my very soul,
To a place where there is a darkened corner.
I find a place  full of urges, of lust, of fear;
The pool of the beginnings of my personality.

Combining my addictions and my superstitions,
Along with this measure of primal ooze I become me.
Top this package off with a pretty bow of civilization;
I am presentable to society, I am a progressive man.

Slithering beneath this veneer of social acceptability
Is a beast unknown even to myself, a ferocious monster.
Uncontrollable desires surge to the surface as I change;
The beast emerges in tattered clothes with a primal scream.

The sound is heard throughout the night, echoing in the hills;
The righteous lock their doors tight, and pray for protection.
Roaming the countryside, hungry to devour with a passion;
My keen senses come back to serve me as I search for a victim.

Hidden deep inside the interior of my personality is this creature;
Who can sooth this beast of primal lusts and primal screams.
A Christ was sent by a loving God to free me from these shackles;
Chasing away the demons of the past, allowing healing to flow in.
