 DJ's Angel

My daughter called me last night scared out of her wits,
She was hearing noises at the windows, but I just got bits.
I got my handy five iron and drove over to check things out;
She wanted me on the cell phone while I was driving in route.
I walked all around the house, noting only DJ's open blinds;
A slight tingle went up my spine, one that bypasses sane minds.
My daughter was curled up on her couch, afraid to move an inch;
Opening the door, I went into DJ's room, and, boy, I did flinch.
Dancing up and down my spine were my hairs standing straight;
I closed the blinds and saw DJ looking at me in a disoriented state.
He couldn't lift his head, burning up with a fever, this child was sick;
Jordan said she closed the blinds earlier, I wondered what was the trick.
I took him into the living room and we gave him his medicine quick;
His fever was up to 103.6, poor thing,  then it hit me like a big brick.
My daughter said a loud rapping at his windows was what made her call;
Then sounds that froze her as she heard a soft banging on the wall.
The little man's fever began to break after about an hour or so;
I went into his room and in the corner was something that made me go whoa.
Jordan is not a neat freak, by no stretch of the imagination;
Yet neatly stacked in the corner were his toys without explanation.
I called into Jordan and asked if she had cleaned up before he laid down;
She hollered back, ‘Sorry, Dad,  all of his toys are just tossed all around.'
I looked at all the teddy bears looking up at me from this stack of toys;
With chills all over me, I became so very thankful for that strange noise.
