Enemy At The Gate
From gate we peer that spirals high
With breath vapor through bars our sighs
Display etching the cold night sky
A silhouette of love denied
From this place we make base camp
Our strategy, relight the lamp
That signals one that we are here
Waiting for her to reappear
Her perch a tower where she does peer
From window small wonder we fear
She does not see we've come to claim
What once was mine, now his how vain
The dark Knight keeps her like a bird
In gilded cage unseen, unheard
Where seek we will the key to turn
To free her heart that also yearns
Yearns for change from where she's kept
To be rescued from all she's wept
The price we'd pay if just to see
Our life we'd give to set her free
So wait we do beyond these gates
To gamble with the winds of fate
For she is what remains to be
The best we've kept inside of me
