Paw-paw
Melting my very heart like chocolate in the summer sun,
With only one look into those beautiful blue eyes.
Hearing these words coming from his small lips,
‘Paw paw' as he is running at me with his arms outstretched.
My heart is laid open like no surgeon could ever do;
Fully and unashamedly loving every precious moment.
Remembering the vision I had on the day of his birth;
‘Paw paw, why do you have to go?' said that 5 year old.
This future vision played so vividly before my eyes that day;
Not really knowing what it means, not really even caring.
I only know that I will embrace every moment we have together;
Thrill to every ‘Paw paw' that I ever hear from him.
