Without Rhyme Or Reason

Unshed Tears   -  A Sonnet

Photobucket

Her lonely footsteps echo in the hall,
In keeping with the rhythm of the rain,
She rearranged the painting on the wall,
Watched falling raindrops on the windowpane,

It started with the turning of a key,
She stepped inside where everything was new,
She left behind; the woman that was she,
Her spirit bruised and battered, black and blue,

She's overcome with tears now free to cry,
And every sorrow suffered she lets go,
A silent prayer she whispers her goodbye,
And says the words; “I always loved you so”.

She straightens up the painting on the wall,
Allows the many unshed tears to fall.
