 Oz

I have long sought this colorful wondrous land;
A place so different from our present awareness;
Full of dreams and hopes of answers from the wizard,
Of the golden road easily marked so we never get lost.

Even with the wicked witch and the flying monkeys,
This land beckons me to find a way to escape.
Dorothy's mantra “There's no place like home”
Is lost on me, as I seek the adventure of this other world.

The power of exploration, the intoxication of wandering,
Touches my soul in a way that normal life misses the mark.
I understand the spirit of Columbus or Ponce de Leon,
Seeking to find the elusive, the answer to life's enigma.

I seek out Emerald City in its splendorous bejeweled glimmer,
For the answers to the questions of my heart are near.
The Wizard of Oz is not a god, or not even really all that powerful,
But he was empowered with simple wisdom that cuts to the heart.

I find that Oz is not somewhere out there in the fantasies of my mind,
But it truly exists within my heart full of  beauty and adventure.
This is the place that I now live, this is reality as dullness has been removed;
Our world is Oz if we look for it,  so let's follow the yellow brick road.
