 The Handyman's Corner

The Red Green Show has a segment called  The Handyman's Corner,
  Where ‘ole Red shows me I am not the worst handyman in the universe.
I reach into my tool bag seldom, but usually I come up with a true lemon;
For plumbing, electrical, carpentry, auto mechanics are not my bag, baby.

All thumbs around tools, I have to improvise depending fully on good luck;
My skills in other areas of my life are well honed, but never as a handyman.
Mechanical minds boggle my brains, as the direction of cogs and worm gears
Drive me insane, as I simply cannot visualize their turning, the cause and effect.

I can smile now after 33 years of marriage, I no longer even have to pretend;
My wife knows that she married no genius with a tool bag, I'm just not cool.
Don't give me a gun telling me to go shoot diner, as I have no survival skills;
But I know how to push the buggy around the Food Lion grocery store.

No, I am not someone who can make it on my own, a pioneer, a frontiersman;
But I can whip out a poem that might touch your heart or make you smile.
Yes, I love that Red Green Show, making fun of the masculine stereotype;
Especially where Red invents or fixes things during The Handyman's Corner.
