Even though your smile is wide
It fails to conceal the hurt you hold inside
Have words ever hurt your ears
Or caused your heart to shed a tear
Old memories like embers stoked
Slowly burn internally until they provoke
A silence that no forced smile can cloak
Words...
At times they are weapons more damaging
than an African spear
Stabbing, wounding and maiming the hearts
Of those most dear...
A heart weeping from within
A forced smile unable to conceal the pain
Caused by Love's intimate friend
