Mac flown in by Metal Bird
From very far across the sea
To chew the fat of forty years
From shared squaddie days
Four very different lives since
We'd gone our separate ways
Johnny came up by Iron Horse
North along the metal rails
Horseless Carriage carried us
Across the Trans-Pennine trail
For a meeting without format
And having just one end
The gathering together of
Past comrades and old friends
A slight feeling of apprehension
As four very different men
Rolled back those may years
We were suddenly young again
It seemed like only yesterday
And not the years it had been
As those very pleasant memories
Bridged missing years between
The photograph shows it
Four laughing men at ease
The only thing missing is
The pipe of joy and peace
Those boys are still lurking there
It's very plain for all to see
