Regimental Sergeant Major

(Father of the Regiment)

He was grey and grizzled and quivering with rage
dominating the parade ground his central stage.
From my position standing really quite near
I could see his victim greying with fear.
He yelled and shouted in a voice straight from hell
take him away
          take him way
                      take him down
                                      to the cells
quick march
           double away
                      left right left right
and the poor little squaddie was run out of sight
He preened and he swaggered and the cause of all that
was the poor little squaddie had dust on his hat
