The Step-Mother
The children always thought of her with hate
To treat her the worst they could hardly wait
But they saw the tender love shine in her eyes
Her kindness towards them was a real surprise
Her sincere love for them was clearly seen
It filled every space where hate had been
Their Dad was very happy to have them near
In his Christian home with his wife to share
A step-mother was hard for the kids to accept
Dark resentment in their minds they had kept
And now at last they were going to be a family
With God's help as loving as they could be
