 Another Day, Another Dollar

My second day back to work reminded me of the reasons,
The need of the five week sabbatical away from the mess.
Union versus company squabbles, coworker strife, unrest;
I am ready for my next journey, my retirement, none the less.

I sit in my chair knowing that the time here will be shortened;
Forced to float up to shift leader, my temporary reprieve foiled.
The USW and management argue over the wording of the text;
I stand in peace as this conflict becomes even more embroiled.

It is another day, another dollar; the time clock ticks away my life;
Biding my time for five short years before they can all kiss my butt.
Union and management, union vs. union, workers fight each other;
I just don't care anymore, as all these problems become a huge rut.

What now? I am asked… I just don't rightly know at this moment;
I desire to escape this drafted service, run to Canada in the north.
Is this simply running from the problem, or my way of addressing it;
Cut to another department, freeze on a lower job, or drudge on forth.

Questions, I have many; answers, they are illusive; solutions, I search;
Seeking the right thing for me to do, searching for the path to walk.
Shift leader job is so very distasteful, I'm not wishing to participate;
But when the time comes will I be a man of action, or full of windy talk.
