"today, i walked with no nationality"
today, i walked with no nationality
no voice accent
with no particular slant or view of anything
today, i walked not as a girl or a human being
today, i just walked.
i felt the warm, springlike breeze upon my two face cheeks
which earlier today had blushed to something that was said.
today, i silently sipped tchai with a good friend
as there was no need for words in the quietness between us.
today, i prepared gifts to give to those
for they are the ones deserving always of gifts.
today, i washed the most beautiful present that was given to me
by one in military clothing.
i asked to speak a few moments with the aforementioned one;
for direction, strength, wisdom ... great wall of china to me.
the coursing river to my cold mountain lake.
today i was that cold, serene mountain lake.
the breeze that gently skims the surface.
always a little face looking up.
malu pothi walks with me,
a fierce tigress
not today
yet.
