AN EVENING WITH YOU

Evening approaches and light fades out from the day
The two of us find ourselves walking along Shenton Way
We pass right through the central district
This is the route we have so often picked
We sit on some steps near a fountain
Observing the bustling traffic and busy men

We sit in silence as the lights come on
The sky turns pink, the sun is already gone
From the seaside, a cool wind blows in
Ruffling the hair, caressing our skin
Lazing around, we watch daylight fade
Resume walking towards the esplanade
Tall, illuminated buildings flank the road on either side
All kinds of vehicles throng the road, far and wide
In the evening, it makes a pretty sight
Offices, malls and stores – glittering and bright

We quicken our steps in the refreshing air
The bridge is in sight, we are almost there
Leaning lazily on the bridge parapet, looking seaside
Tourists wave at us from their river boat ride
People, roads and skyscrapers make a picturesque sight
Cool winds and the calm sea complete this night
Lights against the dark sky make a perfect contrast
Wish time slows down and this would forever last
I see in your eyes a happy, content gleam
This place is perfect, everything is like a dream
It feels so right, I am sure you agree?
Just the two of us here, you and me
