 Faded Photograph (w/dejavue54)
One day I was looking through a book;
A faded photograph caught my eye, I took a closer look.
I saw the beautiful brown eyes of my former lover;
Memories came flooding back, I quickly closed the cover.
I saw the youth in my face,
Now gray hair and some wrinkles has taken it's place.
It makes me wonder where time has gone;
For those times my heart will forever long.
A single tear falls from my weathered cheek;
Wondering about the why's, my curiosity does peak.
To have been able to have aged with you,
I believe that my heart would still be new.
I think of the times we walked on the beach;
You were always so close, never far from my reach.
Thinking of the good times that we once had,
This faded photograph makes me sad.
I remember taking you out to dinner and then some dancing;
We returned to my place for some sensual romancing.
Those days are still so vivid in my heart and mind;
Why did I let you go? Who else did I think I could find?
These memories are forever etched in my heart;
I still carry them, as I have from the start.
As I now walk down memory lane, it makes me laugh;
I am grateful to have found this faded photograph.
