THE DOLL HOUSE

ONE DAY I CAME INTO THE GARAGE, AS I SO OFTEN HAD DONE
THERE WAS MY POP, WORKING ON A DOLL HOUSE
IT WAS OBVIOUSLY FOR A SPECIAL SOMEONE.

IT WAS A BEAUTY,WITHOUT A DOUBT
FRENCH DOORS IN THE SUNROOM LOOKING SO CUTE
REAL GLASS WINDOWS, THAT OPENED OUT.

A FIREPLACE ON THE LIVINGROOM WALL
WITH OPEN BOOK SHELVES ON EACH SIDE IT ALL.
I STOOD IN WONDER AS I THOUGHT TO MYSELF,

WHOEVER GETS THIS WILL BE EXCITED FOR SURE
TWO CLOSETS AND A VESTIBULE RIGHT BY THE DOOR.
I FINALLY ASKED MY DAD, WHO WAS IT FOR

HE SAID IT WAS FOR THE DAUGHTER OF HIS BOSS
I WAS HOPING HE'D SAY IT WAS REALLY FOR ME,
SO I COULDN'T HELP FEELING AN AWFUL LOSS.

THE CUPBOARDS IN THE KITCHEN  HAD LITTLE BRASS KNOBS
THE  SINK AND THE DRAWERS HAD BRASS KNOBS TOO
SO THAT ALL OF THEM COULD DO THEIR JOBS

HE MADE FURNATURE FOR THE DOWNSTAIRS ROOMS
A ND A STAIRWAY TO THE UPSTAIRS FLOOR
THERE WERE LITTLE CLOSETS IN ALL FOUR BEDROOMS

THE HOUSE WAS PAINTED WHITE, TRIMMED IN GREEN
SAT ON A TURNTABLE THREE BY THREE ,
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DOLL HOUSE I HAD EVER SEEN

WHEN I AWOKE ON CHRISTMAS MORN , I SAW WHAT I DIDN'T EXPECT TO SEE
THERE IT WAS BESIDE THE TREE , THE WONDERFUL GIFT ,
POP HAD REALLY MADE FOR ME.
