 My Little Girl

For all those years I protected my little girl,
Being a father who kept harm from her ways.
The years have slipped too quickly into the past;
As she has now moved outside my domain, I'm limited.
Only some wisdom can I pass on, a bit of cash can flow;
But protection I cannot give any longer from life's storms.
I offer a loving heart and a warm embrace, as I see her stumble;
To her side I race, she stands back up, bloodied knees trembling;
I am here, my precious daughter, I am here.
How can I survive this slaughter of the lambs?
My vision I cannot give to her, she will not receive it.
I must accept the fact that she is on her own now.
I am here, my precious daughter, I am here;
Wishing I could still protect my little girl.
