 Pirates !!!

I thought that swashbuckling was a thing of the history books;
Yet, reemerging from Davy Jones' Locker, the Pirate looks.
Seeking the next ship to hold hostage off the Somali coast;
Using the tactics of terrorism; they attack, capture, then boast.

Not the hapless Pirates of Pittsburgh are they, nor Disney stuff;
These mercenary villains have ice water in their veins, they are ruff.
But, not too smart, as the Navy Seals sealed the deal last week;
Earning the Captain his freedom with bullets, this not for the meek.

Hero's are made by circumstances, thrust onto the world's stage;
Bartering his crews release for his life, this Captain earned his wage.
The Seals sharpshooters picked off the pirates without even a whimper;
They rescued this American from the pirates clutches, what a skipper.

Pirates of the Twenty-first Century are not the Buccaneers we knew;
No eye patches, no Arrgs, no parrots, no bandannas, no interesting crew.
These pirates are nothing but terrorists, without any romantic lore or tales;
I hope that we continue to use lethal force against them, and all that entails.
