 Cherokee Loop
Going out into my neighborhood for a run;
Three quarters of a mile, and a hill just for fun.
This paved residential loop gives me the tour;
As my pace is now more gentle than before.
No racing goals to meet, no time clock to beat;
Now a relaxing gentle pace, forget that word race.
Cherokee loop now invites, pleasure in my sites.
Peaceful as I stride, no longer motivated by pride.
The road isn't too chambered, fairly easy on my feet;
Enjoying the wind against my face, nothing to beat.
I am loving the simple movements of my body again;
With this change in my attitude, I always savor a win.
Watching for a water dog, hiding behind a landscape log;
Desiring to drench me as I pass, such a delightful gas.
Barney's daughter is ready, as a price tag is on Freddy;
This is adding a lot of fun, to my Cherokee loop run.
The hill provides all the challenge that I now need;
From that monster of competition, my heart is freed.
I'm running on the Cherokee loop with a big smile;
Gently lap after lap of that three quarters of a mile.
