 Birthday's
Once a year in our lives, the calendar returns to that day;
When the doctor slapped us on the butt to welcome us to life.
Some people are depressed, while others find the day exciting;
But always, at least deep within ourselves, the day is marked.
Some feel the sands of their lives slipping away from their grasp;
While others celebrate with their whole heart this benchmark.
Birthday's separate us by our attitude about where we have been,
As well as where we are going; reflections and dreams about our lives.
Looking within for a day every year is our annual meditative journey;
Seeking the reality of our own existence, looking at our footprints.
Ask the question , ‘What value does our live have to this earth?'
Listen to the answer, smile if you are pleased, change if you are not.
