TWENTY - Part the SecondPsixpence is a contemporary of mine: a dear poetic friend, and occasional adversary when we indulge in poetic duels. I managed to persuade her to join me in a modern love story, to date a happy tale, but who knows. Thank you Penny. I couldn't believe my own words Couldn't believe what I'd just said But this gorgeous feisty bird Had sent shock waves to my head So we chatted there for hours Like we'd been good mates for years And when we left together It was to our friends' combined cheers Now when he'd said ‘go steady' My knees had gone quite weak So he led me to a corner And we both began to speak, We seemed to get on really well Although I still was wary But as he walked me home that night My feelings were quite scary! She was charming she was smart She was delicious she was neat And before I really knew it I was dancing with joy around her in the street for all the night's smart banter had for me dried up and gone and I really wanted her to know she was pretty much a very special one He was handsome, he was funny I was almost in a trance, I was charmed and quite delighted When he began to dance In circles all around me In the middle of the street, And for all his macho chat -up lines He really was quite sweet. She was laughing with me As I danced more and more Danced right down her street To her own front door I said tonight was extra special We'll have more and more like this See you here tomorrow babe And now I claim my goodnight kiss I'd never met a lad like him I found him quite exciting And when he claimed a goodnight kiss His smile was so inviting, I closed my eyes and held my breath Until his lips met mine And the magic of that moment Sent shivers down my spine!
