TWENTY - Part the FourthBy Madpote and Psixpence I've never been so nervous But my blonde bird of such charm Was soon chatting with my mum And my image was taking harm For she had the baby photos out Those embarrassing ones of me That no man in his right mind Ever wants his bird to see His Mum was really lovely Showed me all his baby pics While he just sat there squirming (It's how Mothers get their kicks!) I soon felt quite at home there Amongst his family, And we really were an item My handsome lad and me. The dread meeting being over And I almost back at my ease Though my lovely cheeky bird Was being such a tease About me being a bouncy baby And how beautifully I'd grown When I just said I really love you Can we have children of our own? We were hugging, laughing, kissing When he took me by surprise By suggesting we had kids one day But the love was in his eyes, With a happy heart I told him ‘Oh yes, we'll have plenty!' I knew he was the one for me Even though I was just twenty. So I'm lying here contentedly In my brand new marriage bed And on my shoulder rests The gentle weight of her head Oh we've shared love together So often and in plenty For we're the couple who always Will score the perfect Twenty.
