 The Sun
Hot and sunny, temperature in the 90's today;
My shirt off, my skin craving the searing sun's ray.
This first hot day of the season calls me outside;
Playing under the golden orb, tanning my pale hide.
Drinking in every ultraviolet ray deep into my flesh;
My body absorbs the energy, I now feel fully fresh.
Nearly naked I play, the sun scorches my balding head;
I can feel the tingling that tells me my skin will be red.
But, oh, it is worth it, on that first hot day of the year;
The evening comes, sitting on the patio, drinking a beer.
This rite of season's passage is maintained from my youth;
As I feel the warmth, the peace, and the sun's gentle truth.
