 Just Wondering
I was sitting here this afternoon, just wondering about you;
Checking for results of the triathlon, but there was nothing new.
Wishing I knew how to celebrate your victory on the river trail;
As I know your athleticism and dauntless spirit did prevail.
Victory is not measured with a stop watch, not who finished first;
But it is the celebration of the heart, it's hunger and it's thirst.
That smile of achievement when that bike crossed the finish line;
I only wish that the memory of seeing you in action was mine.
My heart soared for you, my friend, as I felt your joy and pride;
I must lift my inner voice your way and congratulate you inside.
Feel the warmth of my thoughts, my joy for your moment in time;
As I sit here just wondering about you, writing this little rhyme.

Just wondering about a friend's first triathlon.
