 Poems for Lovers and Sinners

The bark on the pear tree

  is cracked with age like

  a face lined through years

  of worrying about fruitfulness

  standing with its branches like

  arms streached...a scarecrow

     in my Garden of Eden

  like some hanging tree waiting

for the noose and its next victim

who will go into Damnation -

A pear tree cracked and old

  sinister, aloof among the garden

everything looks up to this idol

  and when the fruit appears

      even we salute this

  old wood like some Druids

  Giving thanks to their Gods.
