The Golden Candlesticks
An angel had awaken me,
And said that I had to come see;
Still I was groggy from my sleep,
But out of bed that I did leap.
He guided me to where some light,
That had come well within my sight;
What do you see? He inquired,
I looked but my eyes felt tired.
I saw lamp stands made out of gold,
With its cup that looked very bold;
Seven candles on top of them,
And a golden pipe for each stem.
Then I saw a few olive trees,
And asked the angel; What are these?
He responded with head held low,
You are saying, You do not know?
He said that I have ignored,
The Holy Word from our Lord;
Not by a force nor by power,
But by Spirit in an hour.
Seven lights are for seven eyes,
For seeing all on earth that lies;
With ears to hear every sound,
For the Book of Life to expound.
