Animal Angels

Created by God's own loving hand;
Named by Adam, who once walked this land.
Seraphim and cherubim are their kin;
They are exiled here for another's sin.

Adam's great folly cleft God from man;
But that was not the only ban.
All creatures of earth, sea and sky
Were altered; though fish still swim and birds yet fly.

His hand changed friend to relentless foe,
And brought to beasts a fearsome woe.
Some to hunt, and some to flee,
Though neither would ever again be free.

The earth was given unto man to nourish,
That all might grow strong and flourish.
Yes, man was appointed to rule over all;
His was the sin, but theirs was the fall.

Yet in His wisdom and mercy eternal,
Their creator fashioned the plan supernal.
A means to pardon man's great sin,
And gather his wayward children in.

Thus we await that glorious day,
When all creatures formed from lifeless clay
Are united at last in fellowship true,
And receive from God their rightful due.
