TWENTY PLUS 5- The Sequel to Twenty - By Madpote and Psixpence There's a toddler in the garden, There's a baby in the pram, Today I'm the baby sitter Satisfied with what I am. My blonde's just a tad heavier, The cost of giving that new life But anything looks fine On my lovely loving wife. As soon as we were married We didn't waste much time In trying for a baby (All the practice was sublime!) Within a year our son was born, And then our little girl, And everything was happy In our lovely family world. Life is so much different. More with the kids and toys Than in my best gear And out with the boys. I sit back in amazement. This is just simply bliss. I never ever thought I'd get happiness like this. My fella - he was such a lad Till he met and married me, Always on the pull With each new bird he'd see; So I wondered if he'd settle With a home and kids and wife But he's the ideal husband, So content with family life Money's a little tight But I know it's all worth while When I play with my son Or see my Blondie smile. I can't give them the earth. I'm just a working man But we work together And do the best we can. Nights out and foreign holidays Are not on our agenda These days we haven't got the cash To afford a one night bender! But who needs all that anyway When we have each other, And our darling little kids Have a loving Dad and Mother. My best gear's in the wardrobe, Never to be thrown away ‘Cos that's the gear I wore That very special day I met that special girl Who made and changed my life When she gave me her love And became my precious wife. I hope we'll be together Forever and a day. And I'm so glad I caught his eye That night he came my way, He still calls me his ‘Blondie' With that twinkle in his eye And whatever life may throw at us I know that we'll get by. Vote for this poem
