Mothers' Day

I can't help feeling a little sad today
Because it is Mothers' Day,

You have been gone now for over five years
I know this is so,

For I still can't stop the tears,

I thought I heard your voice yesterday
Everyone keeps telling me there is no way,

They say it's time to let go and move on
But I can still hear you
Singing your favourite song,

I still don't know what happened
Why you are not here with me,

Sitting in your favourite chair
Telling stories of how things used to be,

Everyone says it will get better with time
I still can't shake this empty feeling inside,

Instead I am here putting flowers on your grave
Thinking to myself how nothing is the same,

I can't help feeling a little sad today
Because it is Mothers' Day
