The Loss of You, This Loss In Me
Reflect we do, the day is long
So out of place, thought I belonged
To you daughter I love so much
So much fell short, guess not enough
You're all grown up no time for dad
Career girl seems is now whats had
It's day with you but not for me
Where time you had and me you'd see
Time flees us both, both you and I
Wishing for change what seems goodbye
Has left it's card upon a fathers heart
Where do I try to even start
Start when once I held in hands
My baby girl, this clumsy man
Failed to spend more time with you
Failing to grasp and hold unto
Your smile brings peace upon my face
The few times warm your felt embrace
Was mine to have for just awhile
Grown woman now no longer child
Today it seems that I'm the kid
The kid that seems that love forbids
A chance to feel what once was felt
Your love before dear GOD I've knelt
Knelt in mind where kept you are
Also in heart raising the bar
As sentiment holds it's breath
Today feeling an unjust death
You will not see this write today
Where heart and mind are lost and may
Just lose whats left of you we keep
Dear daughter loved today we weep
Soon you'll walk down that church aisle
Marry someone you've loved awhile
Wonder if us, if we will walk
Along side you since we last talked
Maybe not since we don't rate
This chance seems much upon your plate
To share this part of you still here
Inside my heart, painful with fear
You may not read or stop to look
This write today, chapter in book
Of what was once, what you don't see
The loss of you, this loss in me
