This day they'd wear upon their souls
Blood sweat and tears comrades they'd hold
Upon beach heads and rough terrain
Wounded in battle where bullets rained
Some paid the price to save another
Soldier, Airman, Sailor all brothers
Joined at the hip comrades in arms
Battle tested they braved wars harm
Many would go and not return
They did their part as cities burned
From town to town theirs was the mission
Return not home, life theirs submission
Wounded some made their sacrifice
To stop carnage, grenade the price
Would cost an arm a leg or more
Storming the gates of Hells back door
Normandy, a sea turned red
Before wide eyes fell many dead
Mowed down by shells, machine gun fire
Lucky some were, today retired
The skies would too see blood splattered
Across cockpits, in turrets battered
By flak and shells that killed and bared
These scars of war, airmen their share
War the price would venture to
Across countries, and fields that grew
Rampant with death, sparing but some
Today we honor what they have done
You see these men, women they too
Would win freedom for me and you
Salute and shake and hug these Vets
Who served with honor and gave their best
A blessed Memorial day to all service men and women!
