 Vision (M.P.Bridger)
I can see now.
Conjunctivitus of self-adoration
Has been wiped from childish eyes
And that sticky stubborn wax
Of ignorance and self-denial
Blasted from deaf ears.
When I at last broke open
My skull like the hinged lid
Of a Pirate's treasure chest
And let my mind breathe
Enjoying as it did
Enlightenment shining in
Radiantly smiling.
I cursed no longer the free verse
Which gibbered up at me
From countless Dons of note.
Knowing then the universe
Twinkling through the blackness
Of less happier lives
Was mine to be aware of,
o sense, touch, feel
And know with a sighing nod
I see now.
