Compelled to write of subject matter
That reads and spells hate that scatters
Across our world that man calls home
On planet Earth where hate does roam
Why is there so much chaos
In life so short in some of us
That think there is no good in man
Thinking our right to blame and brand
There are questions of faith and trust
There are solutions for the unjust
But in the interim can we just try
To call a truce, rebuild our ties
No matter who we say we serve
Do you think your GOD deserves
A slap across his face by one
Who hates but calls themselves his son
Chances are this write will spark
Maybe explode haters to bark
About how things have been unfair
Why can't we change what man's heart bares
Speak our mind but not engage
To bring real change instead of rage
With strength given, maybe just bring
Eradicate this hate that stings
Peace not war with words our gift
Don't put down souls you can uplift
The tongue that spews this hate today
Will answer to the GOD one prays
Hispanic us, we too have seen
More than fair share, racism it seems
To win battles so clear to eye
Is this how we ignore our ties
We have no magic pill to give
But quite clear we should forgive
Those who trespass upon you brother
Hate that strangles, mankind it smothers
Our mouth weapon today ignites
Instead of bringing peace we fight
Amongst ourselves as if we own
Title to claim what we disown
Brother all colors and black and white
Rainbow people hated some spite
Ourselves with words, actions that speak
Volumes drowning our strengths turned weak
Mankind should pray and not prey
Upon each other because someday
We may have to reach out and touch
Brother in need, hated so much
I pray that peace and love enters
those today whose hate serves no purpose
A special thanks to my friend and
Poet Terry Sasek who inspired this write.
