footprints in the earth.....

Grain by the ocean

I chose to walk by
The ocean
Recalling the memories
Of an infant
Drawn in awe
To the waves
Relentless in their tide
As they ran towards the
Land
Presently I
Sat, a good distance off
In reflection of
And a grain of sand
I played
Pondered on it
In my palm
How in this space
And time
The passage
Through toddler to this
Curiosity
Perhaps it had stayed in it's place
Unmoved, unharmed,
Unperturbed insignificant
To visiting eyes
That had trodden, in it's way
Ruled by their weight
Pressed this grain
Yet it remained
A crown worthy of
Contemplation
Overthrown by none
Assigned by the sea
And it's keeper
Fates above
If life be of dust
As this grain
Then creation justified
The confines of Eden
