Etwas Gedanken

WHEN HE WAS LATE TO SCHOOL

One day, with a punctured bike, he turned up late
And was kept standing outside the closed school gate
The guard scolded and told him to go back home
Might as well have told him to go all the way to Rome
Having missed his breakfast, he felt pangs of hunger
Standing outside in the sun gave him rising anger
He began to get real annoyed with the haughty guard
He wished to punch and kick the man really hard

Suddenly after the interminably long wait
Ambled up the guard and opened the gate
“Go in” he growled “and meet the Principal”
The kid swallowed, things seemed a bit dismal
Nevertheless he stepped into the Principal's chamber
And noticed the colour of his eyes was like red amber
The seated man tossed into his mouth a yellow pill
Washing it down with water from a tumbler with a swill
The principal fixed the boy with his unwavering stare
He sighed audibly and leaned back in his chair
He rebuked how students were lacking in discipline
How their approach was wearing his patience thin
What happened next is quite lengthy to mention
In summary, it was a tirade of reproach and tension

The Principal's problems couldn't bother him less
He only waited to get out of this present mess
Wearing an expression of repentance and grief
He finally stepped out and breathed a sigh of relief
It wasn't the Principal's rant which made him feel bad
But the guard's arrogant attitude which drove him mad
He attended the remaining activities of the school
While plotting revenge on the guard, that rude fool
During lunch recess, the guard was enjoying a nap
He quickly disappeared after landing a stealthy slap
