 Pondering Truth
I was sitting on my deck this evening listening to the rain;
My mind wondered for a while away from life's mundane.
My ears listened to every noise floating in the breeze;
Looking out into the backyard bordered with maple trees.
My mind begins to roll over the lessons I have learned;
I remember my victories, as well as the times I've been burned.
Wisdom floats up from within as sit and think about my life;
I also think about my relationship with my beautiful, loving wife.
Time slips away slowly this evening as I am pondering truth;
I attempt to uncover the mysteries of life, like an expert sleuth.
A smile slips across my face as I allow my mind to explore;
Peace overwhelms me, then wisdom rides in, open is the door.
