A SOLDIER

I'LL
COME HOME SOON.
WROTE A CADET,
FROM AN ARMY TROOP.
SHE READ THE LETTER
SIPPING A TOMATO SOUP.
SMELLING SOME FOUL
THREW HER BOWL.
SHE BROKE HER BANGLES
AND
BEGAN TO CRY,
SCREAMED NO! NO!
HE CAN'T DIE.
SHE WAS UPSET
HEART WAS BLOWN
THERE WAS NO ONE
TO WHOM COULD SHOWN.
DEADLY,DEADLY
LIKE A STONE,
THE CADET REALLY
CAME BACK HOME.
BUT IN COFFIN WITH WHITE SHEET ENFOLD.
THIS ISN'T THE ONLY
DIED IN WAR,
THERE'R MANY
WHO BECAME STARS.
WHO'LL TELL THE THINGS TO THEE
WHOM IS TO BEAR
THE ONLY 'SHE'.
SON WAS CRYING
THE MOM WAS WEEPING,
DAD WAS SAYING
HE MADE US PROUD
BUT
SHE WAS PATHETICALLY CURSING
HER SOUL IN CROWD.
