HERE...NEIGHBORHOOD
I love it here
in this space...
...my own front porch
is respite to me.
There's Spanish music
flowing from the windows
of the house
across the street...
...it's not loud -
just enough to please
the ears, bringing
a sensuous feel
to the moment.
The sun is warm
on my legs,
but the early
summer breeze
ruffles my hair
and cools
my face.
And I close my eyes
and drift...
This feeling
aroused is
so familiar,
so welcome...
I've felt it
hundreds of times,
maybe thousands...
...but it still
comforts me,
and I feel
as if
I belong here,
always.
