The Rain Today
Peering through pane, my mind races
Obscured outside on street are faces
Unknown to us, we sit before
My window safe behind closed door
The rain calls out her name with drops
Hitting the ground I'd wish it stop
Reminding me of loss that day
Her now gone as yesterday
Her warmth still felt as if she stands
Along side us, this lonely man
Turns to find is just my mind
Playing tricks sad and unkind
Her scent has never left this room
Unlike me once called her groom
We task to find a peace with soul
Alone now lost for time untold
We press our face closer to glass
To wake ourselves living the past
It's cold surface awakens me
As tears race down no one will see
My thoughts run wild chasing her light
That shined once here today now plight
Is ours alone and so we stand
Waiting for her, feeling so damned
The rain today will soon too hide
The rest of us that slowly dies
